Rise and Fall

**

Hard to think that just a week ago temperatures rose, albeit sparingly and temporarily. Today, it is officially winter here in Montréal. It was a gloomy day with constant rain. Why must the rain come at such inopportune times when I don't have my lovely flat umbrella.

I slept over at my friend's flat after a crazy night out with the ladies. We had to wake up early to catch McDonald's breakfast before our makeup Fashion Communications class. Maybe not such a good idea to stay out 'til early morning, but ingenious plan to sleep over at the apartment right across school (Thanks, Laura). Despite rains today, we were so lucky to have beautiful weather last night. It was so nice out that we walked down to Crescent and opted not to take a cab even on the way home. That was a pretty fabulous weekend. [Photos to follow.]

These pictures were taken last Thursday, when we had lovely weather. Warm enough to wear a light sweater and let the feet breath with semi-open chaussures. I remember that day, I visited AA and got new favorite things. I can't wait to come home. One month to go.

Weddings and Outfits

If I were to get married tomorrow at sunset on a higher plane overlooking the beach I would wear:

with
I just chanced upon the Lanvin 2008 Bridal Gown and thought it'd go so beautifully with the Giambattista Valli Lace Demi-Platform Pump I previously posted here. Although it is a bit too casual for my taste (I want my wedding gown to be this whole big production), I thought Alber Elbaz's masterful crafting of airy, fluid gowns would be perfect for a beach wedding. Can you just picture the light, flowy material billowing with a soft breeze? Dreamy.

Last Friday I did some volunteer work and was a coat check girl for Musée McCord. They had an event for the Reveal and Conceal exhibit and since I basically had the day free, I signed up. The exhibit was marvelous: all about the evolution of silhouettes and women's intimates. I was able to sneak some bad-quality photos with my cellphone's camera, but I'm debating whether to post them or not because they're so grainy.

Long-sleeved top and oversized ring, H&M. High-waisted pencil skirt (with belt), Zara. Lace tights, Urban Outfitters. Oxford booties, Zara.
Necklace, Get Happy. Canvas clutch, Aranaz.

Stolen

We watch the season
Pull up its own stakes
And catch the last weekend
Of the last week

Before the gold and the glimmer have been replaced
Another sun soaked season fades away

Invitation only
Grand Farewells
Crush the best one
Of the best ones
Clear liquor and cloudy eyed
Too early to say goodnight

And from the ball room floor
We are in celebration
One good stretch before our hibernation
Our dreams assured and we all
Will sleep well
Sleep Well

you have stolen my heart

Watch you spin around
In your highest heels
You are the best one
Of the best ones

Top, La Senza. Oversized jacket, Studio S. Scarf, Minicci. Hand warmers and bow bangle, H&M.
Booties and bag, Zara. Textured Tights, Urban Outfitters. Ring, BCBG.

We
All
Look
Like
We
Feel

you have stolen..

you have stolen my heart.

Weekend at Vermont

I had a fabulous weekend on the other side of the border. It wasn't that far, so the drive wasn't very uncomfortable at all. First stop was at Essex, a small outlet strip where I got great great prices on some designer items! My dad's birthday is coming up, and as the self-appointed stylist of the family, I decided to buy him a whole new outfit. I am very happy with it too. I've started introducing my dad to more vibrant colors and I am quite certain I can get him to wear this preppy purple top I got at Ralph Lauren. I've already restructured my Mom's wardrobe through my great persuasive prowess of getting her to shop more (with me, of course) and discard more old pieces. Now she is the talk of her medical circle where come of her colleagues have started calling her Doctora Glamorosa (much to my amusement). Now I am very proud to say that she has developed a sartorial eye for more modern, yet still classic pieces. My work there is done, stepping over now to my Dad's wardrobe. I've gotten him started on Zara and now I believe Ralph Lauren will be a good match. I'm sure he will love my gift!

Next we headed downtown to Burlington, to the Town Center at Church Street where all the shops are located. I shopped my giddy little heart out at Urban Outfitters and also got a few key pieces from AA and some other stores. Now I am almost broke again, so I retreat back to the quiet life with my books, magazines, and laptop.

The market in this town square reminded me so much of Stars Hollow's small town charm.
(Stars Hollow is a fictional town from my all-time favorite TV series, Gilmore Girls.)

Dress and rose ring, H&M. Tights and Woven flats, Urban Outfitters. Belt, Topshop. Bag, Aranaz. Shades, gift from my ex-boss.

Urban Outfitters
My favorite one-stop shop. From fashion and beauty items, to interiors and novelty books.

We stayed at a lovely ski resort, Smugglers' Notch which reminded us of the log cabins in Woodlands, Tagaytay (Philippines). It was a very nice cabin with 3 rooms and country furnishings. My mom would have loved it. She plans on having her own rest house outside the city decorated wall to wall with country interiors. Autumn colors are so pretty and very postcard-like. Here's the view outside my window:

All trees! haha.
Beautiful colors on the mountain.

Long sleeved top, H&M. Multi-way poncho, Memo. Jodhpurs, Zara. Bangles, Get Happy. Gladiators, Soulier.

All set and ready to leave.
Overnight bag, Aranaz

We passed by the university mall and then made it back to Church Street for some last-minute shopping. I loved it! Everything was significantly cheaper, especially with minimal or no tax.

Indescribable

Just got back from Vermont and the sights there were breathtaking. The beauty of the landscape really struck me and I remembered this song... It speaks of God's wonders that are ever-present around us.

From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation's revealing Your majesty

From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming:

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing, God.

All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing, God.

Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go?
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow..

Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light,
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night;
None can fathom..

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.

You are amazing, God.
Incomparable, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart
and You love me the same.
You are amazing, God
You are amazing, God

will get back on comments tomorrow.  :)
Bonne Nuit.

P.S. As much as I would like to take credits for the beautiful photos, the 1st, 7th, and 8th pictures are borrowed from one of my sister's album in multiply.  Those were taken at beaches in the Philippines. Also, only the 2nd, 6th, and last photos are pictures I actually took in Vermont. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th are pictures I took some time ago in Boston, Paris, and my garden back home, respectively.
